Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to use this website — however you read, however you move, and however confident you feel with computers.
Change how this website looks
There is a black Accessibility button at the bottom left of every page. Press it and you can:
- Make the writing bigger
- Turn on stronger colours, so text is easier to see
- Switch to a plainer font with more space between the letters
- Stop things moving and animating on the page
- Put a line under every link
We remember your choices on your device, so you only need to set them once.
If forms are hard, we will fill them in for you
Some people find long forms difficult. That is completely normal, and it does not mean you cannot get a loan.
Press the Help me button at the bottom right of the page and choose “Fill in the form with me instead”. Ellie, our assistant, will ask you one short question at a time and do the typing for you. You can stop at any point, go back and change an answer, or ask why a question is being asked.
Using this site without a mouse
Every part of this website can be used with a keyboard alone. Press Tab to move forward, Shift + Tab to move back, and Enter to choose something. Wherever you are, you will see a clear outline around it.
At the very top of each page there is a “Skip to the main part of this page” link, so you do not have to tab through the menu every time. Press Esc to close the chat or the accessibility settings.
What we have built in
- Text you can enlarge to nearly one and a half times the normal size
- Colours chosen to stay readable, plus a high contrast mode
- Proper labels on every form box, so screen readers can read them out
- Clear error messages that say what to do, not just that something is wrong
- Buttons and links large enough to tap easily on a phone
- Respect for your device setting if you have asked it to reduce motion
- Plain English throughout, and no jargon without an explanation
How we are doing
We aim to meet the WCAG 2.2 AA standard, which is the level expected of public services in the UK. Accessibility is never finished, and we keep testing and improving.
If you find something on this site that is hard to use, that is useful for us to know and we would genuinely like to hear about it.
Tell us about a problem
Email us at hello@gettoyes.org and describe what was difficult. You do not need to use any technical words — just tell us what happened and what you were trying to do. We reply within one working day.
